Organist Oliver Condy, former editor of BBC Music Magazine and currently working for Apple Classical Music, leads this tour, retracing the life and career of Johann Sebastian Bach through the historic towns and cities of Thuringia and Saxony. Oliver will give recitals on different organs associated with the composer, and we have timed the tour to culminate in Leipzig during the annual Bach Festival. Bach lived and worked in the city for 27 years between 1723 and 1750, and we will see performances at the famous Gewandhaus Concert Hall, as well as St. Thomas’s and St Nicholas’s Church where he held the position of Kantor.
Oliver Condy
Oliver has an MA in organ performance studies from Cardiff University where he studied under the renowned Bach scholar Peter Williams. He also has a Premier Prix from the Conservatoire at Rueil Malmaison, Paris. Following his MA, Oliver worked at Classic FM Magazine for five years, before leaving in 2004 to become the editor of BBC Music Magazine.
